1 Play in the neighborhood playground
AMK is home to some iconic and Instagrammable playgrounds, such as the dragon playground at Blk 570 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3. Ms Amelia Tay , 32, said: “The dragon playground is a Singapore icon. While the one at Toa Payoh Lor 1 is more famous, this one is also nice and kid-friendly and I like to take my kids here. The rubber flooring of the playground is safe for kids to play on and I love taking photos of my children playing in the colorful playground. It is a great place for parents to take their kids to, and playing outdoors is a good way to keep the young ones active.”
2 Cycle along the Park Connector Network (PCN)
As the first walking and cycling town, Ang Mo Kio has an established cycling path network for you to explore the area in a safe and sustainable way. Mr Matthias Foo , 37, said: “I am an avid cyclist and I just bought a bicycle for my 10-year-old son. It will be great to embark on father-and-son cycling trips together.”
“The portions of the cycling path which are under the MRT viaduct are very convenient for us. Those parts are sheltered and cooling so it won’t be too tiring for young kids. Along the way, there are murals, a hopscotch game and a terrarium, which will make the trip less monotonous,” added Mr Foo, who lives at Blk 406 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10.
3 Hunt for insta-worthy wall murals
Walk around the neighborhood, watch your steps, and embrace arts, culture and history through the many murals that make our neighborhood vibrant and cool. Some of the murals can be found outside Ang Mo Kio Town Council offices at Blk 342 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 and Blk 528 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, opposite Kebun Baru Mall, the park area next to Fernvale Primary School and Blk 410B Fernvale Road, just to name a few.
Ms Nithiya Vasu , 15, said: “When my cousins come over to visit me, I will bring them to see the wall murals at Ang Mo Kio Town Centre. We will do some fun TikTok videos in front of these colorful artworks!”
4 Enjoy an eventful day in our parks
Boost your physical and mental health at the green spaces nestled within our estates, such as N4 Teck Ghee Park, Ci Yuan Sports Park which has three-generational fitness equipments and Sengkang Riverside Park, home to Singapore’s largest man-made wetland. Here, you can take an easy stroll, exercise and chill out with your family.
Mdm Rohana Rahim , 71, who lives at Blk 647 Hougang Ave 8, said: “The Ci Yuan Sports Park is literally at our doorstep. The fitness equipment is easy to use and is great to help us stay healthy. I will take my grandchildren here to work out together.”
5 Dive into favorite hawker food
What’s a weekend without diving into our favorite hawker food? Mr Tay Chin Tat , 39, said: “I am someone who lives to eat, and the variety of hawker food in the neighborhood leaves me spoiled for choice. I will take my family to go hawker-hopping to search for yummy food!”

6 Hit the roof for tranquility
Think you can enjoy greenery only on the ground? Nope! There are nice rooftop gardens in our neighborhood to hang out with family and friends as well. The ones at Blk 410 Fernvale Road, Blk 470 Fernvale Link and Blk 308B Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 are three such examples.
Mr Shahrin Ahmad , 42, who just moved into Teck Ghee Vista, said: “There is a rooftop garden at Block 308B, where I go for strolls with my parents in the evenings. I will invite my sister and her children over and have them check out the greenery and nice view here.”
